about
On “Enterprise,” YLM & HOWEDO question the thought of a unified world as depicted on the classic Star Trek but feel it futile given the current state of things.
Story: Howie & I are constantly locked in conversation about the elimination of money from society & there's no better reference than Star Trek. The show envisioned a society of incentive through common humanity, which seems to be sorely lacking from ours. Having to then work mundane tasks at my desk to fill the pockets of the few makes it harder to do & this track was to capture that; the feeling of helplessness when faced with something we just can't accept but can't seem to change.
lyrics
I don’t compete
Competing is the cousin of hate
& if you think about your differences, then you don’t relate
--You start to think existence is of nothing but hate
So you fake more
& take more from others who make
Ugh
Yeah, you love less & hate more
You want success & “paid for”
But there’s a way toward escape without take versus take or my way versus way short
So I think about it, recollect
Think of how I think of now the differences I see connect
No culture cultured me
No culture’s worry free
No culture’s so achieved, so the only thing shown to me
(ugh)
Is that we are no different
If you’re proud of who you are
You’re human, mixed with
-genetics that you forget cause you’re programmed to!
Extra Terrestrial is next you & no man moves!
I just laugh at it
We care more about flags, color, & bad habits
Borders, quarters, containment, payment, we grab at it!
& yeah, I’m mad at it
(ugh)
Yeah, I’m mad at it
So I’ll captain up the enterprise
I’ll captain up the enterprise
I’ll captain up the enterprise
Fly it out to outer space
Maybe then we’ll be unified
So I’ll captain up the enterprise
I’ll captain up the enterprise
I’ll captain up the enterprise
Fly it out to outer space
Maybe then we’ll be unified
